Ritual without Myth is an exhibition that considers the potential of ritual as a catalyst for transformative experience. Including newly commissioned and existing contemporary works, the exhibition explores art practices that combine cultural repertoires (that is aggregates of actions and symbols that structure social systems), thus freeing them from the authority of a unitary, dominant myth. As Suely Rolnik notes, that absence of an absolute and stable identification with any repertoire is a condition from which hybrid cultural forms can emerge, to undermine a dominant ideology.

The idea of "rituals without myth" was used by the artist Lygia Clark to describe her work, in particular her project Structuring the Self (1976-1988): a therapeutic practice carried out in one-to-one sessions that explored the affective potential of her tactile Relational Objects through the mind and body of participants.

Ritual without Myth is curated by the graduating students on the Royal College of Art's MA Curating Contemporary Art Programme: Daniela Berger, Laura Clarke, Sabel Gavaldon, Katie Guggenheim, Lily Hall, Egle Kulbokaite, Mette Kjaergaard Praest, Laura Smith, Borbála Soós, Elizabeth Stanton. Monaco Magazine is a combination of an exhibition space and an art magazine which employs the format of a periodical publication as the organisational structure to generate a website, a series of print publications and a programme of exhibitions and events. Rather than reviewing or previewing, the magazine will be devoted to sharing projects that haven't happened (and for various reasons --eg. unfeasibility or lack of time, resources, interest or ability-- probably never will). By providing a unique space to present these lost ideas the magazine aims to create discussion and activity leading to the development of new projects, artwork and events.

GUIDED TOURS: a permanent project for Auto-Italia

Three curators, Bettina Brunner, Kathy Noble and Francesco Pedraglio, present fictional guided tours of Auto-Italia through the medium of writing. The guided tour, an established museological convention, is used here as a means to visit exhibitions that don't exist. The tours will be permanently available, as three alternatives to the exhibition on show, for as long as Auto-Italia remains at its current location, an old Volkswagen garage which is awaiting demolition.

Bettina Brunner has written a conversation between herself and Dan Graham based on interviews and the artist's writings concerning architecture and space. Dan Graham – Against the "Neutrality of Surface" is presented as dialogue transcribed in a booklet. Bettina is Exhibitions Co-ordinator at the BFI and a regular contributor to Frieze Magazine and Springerin.

Kathy Noble has reviewed an imaginary exhibition, addressing authenticity through performance and re-performance. To Be Real is presented as a page photocopied from an art magazine. Kathy is a writer and Assistant Curator at Tate Modern.

Francesco Pedraglio has imagined a possible future for Auto-Italia as an underground political movement who are forced into hiding and adapt physical features of the building for communication and surveilance. This is presented in the form of an audio guide. Francesco co-founded the curatorial project space FormContent, edits the quarterly fanzine The Mock and other superstitions, and is a London editor for Kaleidoscope.

MELROSE PLACE, JT Project 09, James Taylor Gallery

In 1995 the artist Mel Chin, and a group of students from CalArts in Los Angeles, formed the GALA Committee and collaborated with the producers of Melrose Place to insert artworks into the TV show as props and additions to the set.

Coinciding with the US airing of a new, contemporary version of Melrose Place, this exhibition will act as a re-make of the GALA project. Original episodes of the show will be screened within a set styled to look like an open-plan loft apartment, and a group of seven artists will show work, including sculpture, installation, drawing, video and performance, as a series of interventions within an environment which will be part domestic, part theatrical and part fictional.

With work by Jennifer Bailey, Olivier Castel, Danielle Dean, Justin Jaeckle, Kazimierz Jankowski, Rachel Pimm and Patrick Shier.

One of seven simultaneous exhibitions by artist-run galleries and artist collectives, invited by James Taylor Gallery to temporarily occupy a different section of their huge warehouse building.

An exhibition where artworks provided the only source of light: emitting, reflecting or remaining hidden in the darkness. The physical limits of the gallery space were no longer apparent, and the visitors’ perception of space was disabled by work that appeared and disappeared as a constantly evolving series of scenes, each one different from the next.

Perfect copies of thirteen simple, gestural artworks conceived as a group exhibition, including a pile of cellophane sweets (Felix Gonzalez-Torres), a re-photographed Marlborough advert (Richard Prince) and a light going on and off (Martin Creed). The exhibition was visible only from the street through a series of portholes created on the glass facade.

Co-curated with Olivier Castel and Justin Jaeckle. With copies of work by Daniel Buren, Martin Creed, Urs Fischer, Fischli/Weiss, Liam Gillick, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Ann Veronica Janssens, Philippe Parreno, Andreas Slominski, Lawrence Weiner and a film by Michael Andrews.
